URBAN RENEWAL

Besides post-war urban neighbourhoods, 1970s and 1980s residential areas in major cities are now facing a round of redevelopment and densification. Spatial projects, with transitions and the physical interventions, offer the chance to contribute to solutions to social, economic and climatic challenges. This comes with many challenges: how do you involve residents in vulnerable neighbourhoods? How do involved actors decide where to invest? Where are linking opportunities? And in what ways does it structurally strengthen the social city? Our practice-oriented research systematically inventories previously applied spatial solutions; and experiments with new inclusive approaches.
