Responsive Public Spaces
Info
How can the application of interactive technology enhance urban public spaces?
Two-year action research focusing on the application of responsive technologies in public space. Big tech companies see the city primarily as a collection of infrastructural services that can be optimised using digital technology. In contrast, Co-ReUs focuses on the city as a social and cultural entity and investigates how the input of responsive technologies can enhance the quality of stay and experience of public spaces.
Taking the ArenA Boulevard area in Amsterdam as a case study, Co-ReUs combines analysis and design. Analysis serves design and provides building blocks, which are tested in situ in various prototypes.
